Explore the Outdoors Around New Braunfels

Living at Meyer Ranch also places homeowners within easy reach of some of the New Braunfels area’s best-known outdoor spaces.

Landa Park offers a classic New Braunfels outing with shaded walking areas, mature trees, picnic spaces, and access to the Comal Springs area. It can easily become a relaxed Saturday destination for families looking to grill out and put your feet in some water.

The rivers that define New Braunfels create even more options to take the family out or just enjoy the cooler air. River Acres Park provides access to the Guadalupe River for fishing and kayaking, while a drive along River Road toward Canyon Lake opens the door to additional hiking, paddling, camping and Hill Country wineries.

Fall’s milder temperatures can make these outdoor destinations especially appealing, whether the goal is a full day of recreation or simply finding a quiet place to sit by the lake and enjoy a nice glass of wine.\

Family Traditions, Arts and Community Events

Fall brings plenty of opportunities to enjoy the season both within Meyer Ranch and throughout nearby New Braunfels and Gruene.

Closer to home, Meyer Ranch’s Market Days bring local vendors together for a neighborhood farmers market-style experience, giving residents an easy way to browse local goods, support small businesses and spend time outdoors. Food Truck Nights are another recurring favorite throughout the year, and cooler fall evenings make them an especially enjoyable way to grab dinner, try something new and spend time with neighbors.

The community also gets into the spirit of the season with traditions that make fall feel special and close to home. Meyer Ranch’s Movie Nights become memorable evenings, where neighbors gather for holiday classics on the lawn. As well as throughout all of October, front yards get dressed up for the season and Halloween events bring trick-or-treaters throughout the community.

Just a short drive away, Saturdays can begin at the New Braunfels Farmers Market, which continues throughout the fall with locally grown produce, specialty foods and goods from area vendors. The market is open on Saturdays, including throughout October, making it an easy addition to a weekend in town.

October also brings several of New Braunfels’ signature arts and cultural celebrations. The Día de los Muertos Festival returns October 17th, filling downtown New Braunfels with live entertainment, food, art and cultural activities throughout the day and evening.

The following weekend, the Texas Clay Festival takes place within the Gruene Historic District. Now in its 34th year, the festival brings together more than 80 Texas potters and clay artists for live demonstrations, handmade works and opportunities to meet the artists behind them.

Together, these community gatherings and regional festivals give fall at Meyer Ranch a comfortable balance between events close to home with neighbors and the larger traditions rooted in the New Braunfels landscape.

And, of course, no discussion of fall would be complete without Wurstfest.

Live music at Wurstfest

Wurstfest: A New Braunfels Fall Tradition

Held each November, this 10-day celebration honors the German heritage that has helped shape New Braunfels for generations. Visitors can enjoy live music, traditional food, dancing, carnival rides and cultural entertainment throughout the festival grounds.

Wurstfest is the kind of event that can easily become part of an annual fall routine. An afternoon might be spent exploring the grounds, listening to live music and trying traditional German dishes before continuing the evening in downtown New Braunfels or nearby Gruene for shopping and dinner.

Beyond the entertainment, Wurstfest offers a strong sense of history and community roots. The music, food and traditions reflect the long history and personality of New Braunfels, giving residents and visitors another way to connect with the community and experience the Fall together.

Start the Season Close to Home at Meyer Ranch

Meyer Ranch was designed around outdoor spaces that encourage residents to stay active, spend time together and enjoy the surrounding Hill Country landscape no matter what time of year it is. The community includes green spaces, natural and developed trails, pocket parks, and event spaces spread throughout more than 700 acres.

At the heart of that story is the historic Heimer House, the home of Meyer Ranch’s original owners and recipient of the 2026 Summit Award for Best Amenity. Built in the 1850s and recognized as a Texas State Landmark, the home has been preserved as part of the community and provides a direct connection to the history of the land. The surrounding trails and green spaces make the Heimer House a natural stop during an afternoon walk, while Meyer Ranch’s broader trail system gives residents opportunities to stretch their legs and explore the community throughout the season.

Additional amenities, such as the nearby Haus, add another layer to the outdoor lifestyle. Located on more than 2.5 acres, residents enjoy access to a robust amenity center that features a fitness center, resort-style pool, splash pad, playground, and a four-hole putting green.

Meyer Ranch maintains monthly resident programming, creating opportunities for neighbors and families of all ages, activities, and interests to connect throughout the year. One location residents can enjoy these events is The Community Green. The Community Green provides additional playscape locations, local food-truck and tasting nights and resident events.
